I really like this photograph, and your subject is perfect for black and white. I like the composition and the sense of repeated forms and angles. I especially like the way it fades to black in the upper right hand corner. lhall

Great shot. You can see how the wheel work to move the train. B & W works well here. I like it. Nice one. PTL

Good detail and fine composition--the strength of the construction and the mechanical details are shown in a powerful photo andrewm

John, I feel I should complain about something. The rocks at lower right are blown out. And it is so bad of you to have great DOF. 7 JEM

Great shot! You got a really clear close-up. This is the first time I have ever noticed the braking mechanism on the trains wheels!

This is one of my favourites this week. The low contrast gives it a gentle feel for such a heavy subject, perhaps a touch of nostalgia there. In contrast, so to speak, the bottom right seems too contrasty. It could probably do without the small area of light, top left, but I'm nitpicking now. Very good.

This is a super b&w...wow. Maybe the ground on the right is a bit blown out but could easily be fixed. Just a good photo. Job well done. Justine.

I think the black and white works well with this photo... I wonder if sepia would look even better?

nice black and white with good tones.
wish the white triangle shaped thingy wasn't there on top of the front wheel. Easily fixed in photoshop, after the challenge of course:) but maybe cropped out for the challenge.

Nice clean shot. The dirt almost gives this shot a film grain look. (8)

Nice picture. I found the framing a bit harsh on the near wheel.
