Cool image (or should I say hot). I like his silhouette against the bonfire. The fire colors are so vivid.

This is a really cool photo. The fireman really ties this whole thing together. Great job and even though its a bit late, congrats on the top 10...

Man I muffed on the headline.
I submitted early, and wanted to come back & redo the headline when I thought of a better one, but forgot.
A better one would have been "Authorities burn biggest drug haul in history!!!"
Thanks for all the comments to everybody

Beautiful catch on the light from the fire, and the fireman against it!

Good work!

Great shot. The headline is not a headline...

I think if you gave youre shot a more "serious" title it would have more impact

Wonderful photo. Not such a wonderful headline... but never mind. I love the picture and it is one of my top picks.

Great shot. I think this is the thing that looks great centered. I think it loses a bit of impact off to one side. 7

Perfect plaement to make the silhouette. Newspapers love these as the high contrast makes it easier to print.

It tells a story, it has so much movement, the color & sillouhette- it's all superb. Newspaper worth by far- i gave it an 8 at first, but i now give it a 9. great job

photo 8, headline needs work though. Flames too big for campfire, more like bonfire. IMO

This is beautiful. I love the silhouette and the simple intensity of the heat and flames. I hope to see a ribbon on this one... great work :)

excellent composition. I think it would do better with a different title. "Oversized camp fire" doesn't sound like something newsworthy. But I'm voting on the photo not the title.. 8

Fantastic action shot, the compostion has impact to it. The way the silohuette is sharply outlined by the brightness of the flames, and the way the body, specifically the head, curves slightly into the direction of the flames. I maybe would have given it a different title though, this one doesn't really have that newspaper, headline kind of feel to it. I would have gone for something more dramatic. But it is still my favourite for the challenge (9)

That isn't really a headline. Why would the news reading public care to read a story about a firefighter watching a bonfire? You are simply describing what is evident to the viewer from the photo. The headline should clue the viewer in to the events of the story assuming there is one.

Quibbles about the headline aside, the photo does have some journalistic merit although I can't help feeling that in spite of the blaze, there isn't a real sense of immediacy here. Maybe it's a human interest story rather than a news story? The firefighter's pose looks casual an unhurried. He doesn't appear to think anything of significance is happening. In the end, this is kind of a cool sillouhette of a firefighter watching a bonfire. If your headline suggested an actual event this might work better as journalism.

Cool photo. A better headline would've made it much better though. Maybe something like "Local authorities burn contraband". Or something. Oversized campfire just isn't newsworthy IMO.
