Well, I thought it was worth a 10! Beautiful image, but you had strong competition.

I think it's a beautiful shot but there's something odd about the edges. I think the image has been over-sharpened and the selection needs some feathering. I think this image can be improved a lot with a bit more time spent on the finer details.

I love it! if I had to nit-pic, i don't like the texture of the terry cloth towel in BG. Velvet maybe? 8

Intersting choice to desatures, does make it stand out but I wonder what not the entire instrument is not saturated. Background is also a bit distracting

the reflections in the bell are a bit distracting. Also, I'm wondering if you might have found a more interesting crop. Focus and clarity are good, and the background contains no distracting elements. The lighting is making some shadows near the bottom right, that maybe could have been fixed with a bit of side light. Overall, I think you did a nice job. ~Heather~

Great idea. I love photos of musical instruments for the most part but there are a couple of problems with this, mainly the reflected items in the horn are distracting. I find that photographing anything reflective is real tricky, you don't want to get burned out highlights and you don't want unwanted reflections. Also I think that having at least one end of the horn in the composition would be nice. I think the overall the exposure and clarity is super.

first word that comes to mind is odd. second thought is that you seem to be approaching a really great idea, just not quite realised. i don't know if this was the original intention, but if you had bent down a bit and taken the shot looking more inside the saxaphone, and desatted the same way, i think it would be more effective. basically, i love the idea that the inside is brass, and the rest is grey. editting, i might have tried to either clone out or blur some of the stuff reflected in the brassy bits - just appears a smidgeon bit cluttered, really. concept 10, realisation 6, average 8.

Should have cropped about an inch off of the right to put the horn outlet more on the right. Love the gold. I might have tried to increase the b&w contrast on the rest. Nice image.

I think I need to go buy a horn instrument - they make for some stunning photography! Actually, I know it is the talent behind the camera that made this so stunning.

This is beautifully focused and the desat is done well...but the reflections in the bell really take away from the image. Of course, I have no idea how to tell you to keep from getting them unless it's to rearrange your house! ;o)

Good idea but different angle would have made more impact

Don't like the reflections, if you could reshoot it without this would make a GREAT print!
Like the shot!

Excellent! I think I know who you are. This is definely a great shot. The colors are so glorious and the compositional slant, very effective.

Because of you, I hav eto vote to another 20% of the pictures. But it is worth it. Excellent picture.
