Sandhill Cranes on a rare hill in Florida. They were really whooping it up and dancing beautifully. Unfortunately they kept disappearing behind the hill and this was the only shot of the dancing that I was able to capture. They are fun to watch and are loved by so many here in Florida.

There was a beautiful "Sun Dog" in the shot, but I couldn't get the color right and still have the cranes stand out in basic editing. I went with turning the sky yellow/orange.

I adjusted color and tweaked with Curves. Hue/Sat and Color balance, sharpened with Topaz detail, ran a little NN and saved for web. Came back next day and increased saturation of the yellow/orange in the sky unnaturally.

Yay!! A ribbon after 3+ years! I never thought it would happen!

Thanks for all the great comments and congratulations! I never thought a virtual ribbon would feel so good! :) :)

Congrats on the ribbon. It is good to see a tilted horizon/non-horizontal cloud image score so well here.

A possible winner, if voters believe the sky is real. Me thinks it is greatly enhanced, so I gave this an 8. Overall a great image.

Good capture but a bit overcooked for my taste.
There is just too much local contrast in the clouds IMHO which detracts from the real subject.

Beautiful. Is this, in fact, a mating dance? I wish I knew. If it is, I would probably give it a high score. If it isn't, I'd have to DNMC it. I'm torn; what will I do? The open beak and the way the one on the right appears to be looking at the one on the left does suggest a paired relationship. I might give you this one.

Stunning nature shot, great lighting and silhouettes. Effort. Dance left, beek open right, beats the hell out of the formulae shots of cats/dogs/ring shadows in this challenge!

Lovely colors but it seems a little out of focus. Straightening the horizon might make this image even better IMO.
