I found he's got a "choice-expression" written all over his face.. This is my first entry to the challenges on dpc after having been a regular visitor to this site almost from the beginning. It's not a great photo with the bar in front of his face and all, but I was interested in trying out the challenges and see how it works.. Taken few hours before deadline.

edit: to bad the title can't be changed, I didn't spell the word "choices" right :-(

I'm pretty happy with this result for this family-album-snapshot. I know it has many faults and the comments are just right! I wasn't going to submit in this challenge in the first place, but some hours before deadline I was playing with my son and was teasing him with his pacifiers (he always has two pacifiers in his bed). I decided to grab my camera without caring much about the light, angle, DOF, etc. I just found his face expression so typical for "choise expression" in this photo. I decided to submit this photo to finally try out how the challenges work here on this site. I thought it would maybe be a midrange photo, but I'm very happy for 61 out of 227 and 73%!

It's a good example of young choices! Great use of DoF with the sharp focus on the little one - don't need to see thepacifiers that sharp. For me the border is way too much and not needed.

This is a classic example of a snapshot with potential. :) Couple of things to consider here. First is, what's the most interesting part of the shot? Answer is the expression on baby's face. We can't see it real well due to the placement of the bars. The first thing to do- move to your right. Frame the shot so baby's face doesn't have the bar going through it. If that doesn't work- change your angle. Shoot from behind the bambino. Make the pacifiers the focus. That could make this more than just the typical baby shot. You have a great idea here. Play with it a bit and see how shooting from different angles can make it different. 5

Good idea, however, your center of focus should be on the nooks, so I would not have blurred it out. 10 for the idea 4 for the picture with overall 7

a deeper depth of field bringing the pacifiers into focus would have made this shot even better, but a good job, and cute!

sweet shot, maybe better DOF, higher apperture would give a little but better results. = 8

Nice color saturation and use of light. I know that you did not have much of a choice - but IMO the bar in front of the right eye is annoying.

15 months, or 50 years... the choices are still only pacifiers...

the pacifiers are a bit too blurry i think. The look on the babies face is great but it looks like a bit too much usm.

I think I might have tried having the pacifiers and reaching hand in focus and the baby outside the DOF. That would have really emphasized the concept of "choice" I think. Either way, it's cute. :)
