You could be right. I'm not sure if it is a fly or a bee either.
Actually, it's probably a hover fly.

this is such a stunning image .. i'm loving the beautiful soft processing on the flower .. the bee is very different from the one's we get here as well .. most unusual eyes, an amazing pattern .. are you sure he's not a fly .??. i think bees have two sets of wings and flies only have one .. i'm no expert but the antennae look fly-ish too .. of course i could be barking up the wrong tree .. in japan insects might follow totally different rules .. lol ..:)

That is about as perfect as flower/bug macros come. Great shot. The green around the flower makes a perfect frame.
