Challenge: Team Sports Without Players (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: In the field behind Gale's Equine Facility
Date: May 31, 2004
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/160
Galleries: Sports, Water
Date Uploaded: May 31, 2004

Photo taken at 4:07 PM on 5/31/04. "Team sports" and horses (my favorite subject) don't leave a lot of possibilities for photos without the players - if you include the horses. However, rain filled hoofprints in the field gave me the idea today for an "image", and thus, here is my first entry to dpchallenge. Outdoor polo is one of those "weather permitting" sports. Rain can easily "cancel" the event if the slippery ground puts the horses, and riders at risk. That's why the activity is more common to the warmer climates of Florida and California.

My entry is "as" the camera "saw" it. No adjustments or croppin'. I took several shots with different shutter/aperature settings. This one was closest to how I imagined it to be - a damp, dreary rained-out afternoon for no horseplay.

Don't be afraid to submit a larger image... you'll only gain by using up the available space.

This shot isn't very captivating to me. It's well composed, but the mud and the subject don't grab attention. 6

The colors are a bit washed out. On grey days like this, you might want to try for some more yellows and blues to help bring out some color. The lighting is way too bright on the ball and the stick doesn't seem in focus. The composition is nice though.

NIce photo but maybe if there was a little less mud on the cricket ball and club then it would look more realistic but other wise good because the mud on the club and ball made the texture so good job! 9!
