This was shot at Lake Reba yesterday, here in Richmond. We took the dogs there for a swim and were lucky to find this guy waiting for one of the fishermen to catch one.

Wow, I love the dreamy, almost misty quality to this image! The water is so pastel and soft, almost like a watercolor. Really gorgeous! I could even see a slightly different crop to exclude the greenish water at top so the bird was surrounded by nothing by that soft blue water :-)

I really like how the reed to the left of the frame has the same gentle curve as the bird's neck. I like the softness and lightness of this, too.

The ripples across bird shadow add a near-abstract quality to that part of the image. Nicely done.

I would never have thought to shoot a shot like this. It looks almost dreamy. From the thumb I had thought it was a Great Egret. Nice job!
