Well regardless of the qualities of this shot, I don't seriously expect to break a 6 because frankly, the subject is a spider :) This is my first attempt at a real bug macro - hope it goes OK.
I'm hoping to at least get a few comments, because although this spider was less than 5mm long, he almost made me wet my pants every time he moved!
This was taken with my 50mm reversed on the end of my 28-105mm. Special thanks to aliqui for her help with understanding all this stuff. And thanks to kirbic too - small aperture on the 28-105, large on the 50mm - duh!!! You would have thought it would be obvious to me, but no :)
The editing was very basic- raw conversion with exposure increased, curves, levels, rotate and crop, played with brightness /contrast too. Resized to 1280, applied USM, resized to 630, added border, SFW.

Yuk! lol. Great shot. Perhaps I might have suggested a POV from above so you can see more of the sharp bit. |
