I have a wretched habit of picking off my fingernail polish, or letting it get dismal before wiping it off and starting over. I just can't be bothered.

I tried many other shots of other Habits- little white lies, gambling, but then I looked down and saw my fingers...

This got one of my higher scores (a 7). Partly, because it reminded me of my youngest daughter who does this constantly. I used to do it also but now I hardly ever paint my nails. Emotional responses aside I loved the bold red of her nails and the glass (is that a frozen daquiri?). You went beyond just showing a close-up of fingers and placed them in context. The fact that the contents of the glass she is holding is the same color red shows that you put some thought and care into the photo. Nice work!

* Greetings from the Critique Club! *

My impression is that this is a very nice image. Some detailed comments:
- the composition is good, with the glass slightly off center, and both middle fingers off center.
- the color match of the nail polish and the content of the glass create a sense of balance.
- lighting is excellent, no harsh shadows and everything properly lit.
- cropping could be better: it bothers me slightly that the top of the glass is not visible. The partly cropped index fingers creates tension, suggesting there's more outside the frame which makes it interesting to look at, but the top of the glass is not quite right for me, don't know exactly why.

Hope this helps, congrats on a nice image!

Like the look of the nails. Maybe more grittiness elsewhere in the photo too? Good color matching

Nicely lit - I love the super saturated reds and the skin tones. The photo really tells a story and it's nicely framed with a good sense of composition.

In my opinion, this photo has no significant problems, but it doesn't really appeal to me. The grayish background is kind of dull and the light reflections on the nails are a bit distracting.
