I realised the shaddow of the '12' this way: This is a shot with 2 sec. exposure time. Approximately the first half of the exposure time I held a calendar sheet directly in front of the lens. After some attempts I got this IMHO satisfying result. I used 2 lamps: One from above and a spotting torchlight to highlight the calendar with the 'Black Friday' ('Freitag' in german). By the way: There is only one 'unlucky day' next year - the 13th of June...

Nice tone. It has a "Stan Lee" graphics look to it. Impressed.

No problem, the setup was relatively simple. Unfortunately I haven't made an extra shot of the whole setup. But I think you'll get it, when you turn the photo 180 degrees in your mind. The sheets are lying scattered on the floor and the calendar is standing upside down on them. So the reason for the little page lifting was after my helping hand only the gravity. More information about the shadow of the '12' and the lighting you'll find in the photo details. O.K.?

WOW! Really Really Really Nice man, I cant say I could do this myself, this truly impresses me. I dont know why people dont see the 12, I spotted it pretty quickly, the 13th is deffinately brought to the forefront by the darkness of the number though, my question though is how did you capture the page lifting and produce the effect that the calender book is above the sheets? I would love to know how you did this in detail.. Impressive!

Oops,

please excuse my mistake in 'shadow'. As I wrote alredy in my user details I use the dpc to learn more about photography and to improve my english. So I welcome your constructive criticism on both! But now the whole world is able to see my asininity on the main page of dpc this week. Sometimes a 3rd place can be embarrassing too :-)

Thanks to all the users, who took the time to make a comment and special thanks to po_the_great. Your german is better than my english ;-)

Please have a look on the photo details above for some more informations about this shot. If there are more questions, please feel free to ask me!
@ mac: No no, not deliberately...
@ bmac: No, its not a collage. Only a calendar and some pulled sheets...
@ TrexX: Is it not 'instead' instead of ' in stead' :-) :-) :-)?
@ KAOS, PTLParsons: The shadow is the number 12. Thats why I titled 'Shadow of a lucky day'. Is the number of the shadow really so hard to realise?

Thanks again, your really made my day!

Did you buy next years calendar just for this challenge?
I like the blue in this shot and I tried to figure out, what's that for a shadow over the whole picture, but I gave up... however, it's a good idea... I wish you luck for this challenge, 7 - KAOS.

I must say this is different. Unique use of shadows and different lighting levels all in one photo. Can't tell what number the large shadow is. But I'll give it a 6 for the uniqueness of it.

After looking back through the photos, I just noticed the shadow in this picture! Kind of being a dunce, huh. That brings my score up from a 9 to a 10. I like it.

Is it not shadow in stead of shaddow? Don't worry, I have made language errors in my titles too. Will rate you the same as if with no error. You have to look a bit longer at this shot. Then you really begin to appreciate it. (9)

This was one of my 10s this week (admittedly I gave out more than normal). A great "concept" image and very well executed. I'd like to see your setup for this one.

This is an excellent photo. I love the colour scheme, and the perspective, and the 12 day blowing into the camera is a great effect! I'm positive this will do very well! 10 - Konador

I'm sure you're getting plenty of 'This isn't legal' comments, but if you look on the left side of the '13' page you can see the shadow of the 12 mapping the outside of the stack. Great lighting and effect.
