Challenge: Hidden Gem -- 1,000th Challenge! (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Canon PowerShot S2 IS
Location: St. Edwards State Park, Kenmore, Wa.
Date: Sep 9, 2005
Galleries: Black and White
Date Uploaded: Mar 10, 2009

This photo was taken down at St. Edwards State Park in the Kenmore, Wa. area.

We were down near the water front of the park, just finishing up our shoot when she jumped into the bushes and said to take her pic. I took a few and then I switched it to b/w. This was one of the photos that I took.

(Note: I did do some cropping because the time was in the lower right hand corner)

Nicely done.
03/17/2009 03:54:19 PM
Nice image, she looks sleepy. like the lighting.
03/17/2009 12:08:53 PM
The crop feels too inclusive to me, and it's quite dark, not my cup of tea.
03/17/2009 10:58:39 AM
It looks more like she's in the beam of a flashlight at night, I would never think of sun looking at this photo. Looks clear but it's a bit small for this challenge.
03/17/2009 10:29:42 AM
I like the spot light on Erica's face. Good capture.
03/17/2009 09:56:38 AM
Considering she is in the sun, I find the image very dark. I do like that it isolates her in the image though.
03/16/2009 03:20:35 PM
might have cropped this down to focus more on the model
03/16/2009 01:15:16 PM
Interesting piece. I like that the lighting is only on her, nice work.
03/16/2009 08:56:41 AM
i kinda fail to understand what you are trying to convey here. I am not too impressed with the exposure, and well, the model looks all lost
03/15/2009 10:55:46 PM
Dark and mysterious. Just the way I like my.....forests.
03/15/2009 06:29:44 PM
With the b&w, it looks more like she's in the dark.
03/15/2009 01:41:18 PM
Nice capture, I'd have cropped it to move her out of the center.
03/15/2009 12:33:27 PM
Interesting lighting but it kinda just looks like it was dark and someone shined a flashlight on her. Plus the expression on the models face is rather uninteresting.
03/15/2009 06:47:50 AM
Nice. Little bit uninspiring though. This can't really be the best photo you have ever taken.
03/15/2009 06:04:08 AM
nice light and I like that you went for bw variant

sorry image does not quite appeal to me, 5
03/14/2009 07:01:00 PM
interesting - dont like her expression
03/14/2009 05:31:35 PM
I think this would play better with some different cropping - put her more to the upper right and let there be some negative space to the left.
03/14/2009 10:19:28 AM
Interesting how the B&W and the high contrast really change this shot from a typical "subject inthe sunshine" shot. Neat job.
03/14/2009 07:02:10 AM
nice conversion to B&W
03/14/2009 03:48:36 AM
Like the way the subject pops out of the shot
03/13/2009 08:30:24 PM
Well composed to steer your eye right to your subject. Lighting helps too.
03/13/2009 07:45:03 PM
Looks more like she is hiding from the sun! Something different which is a good thing. 7
03/13/2009 03:13:18 PM
or is it moonlight? toning really works here
03/13/2009 02:08:52 PM
This looks more like "Erica in the Dark" - it's a little too dark for me but definitely an interesting composition.
03/13/2009 01:03:54 PM
Nice portrait. Bright and clear in the center, but very dark on the outside.
03/13/2009 11:18:30 AM
good use of light
03/13/2009 10:16:44 AM
Looks pretty dark for her to be in the sun.
03/13/2009 03:05:51 AM
Hmmm - seems more like a night shot with a Police spotlight shining on her as she hides in the bushes. I would title it "Erica gets Busted!" ;-)
03/12/2009 10:10:05 PM
Good expression aand shot. What was she doing in the jungle?
03/12/2009 09:53:13 PM
nice lighting
03/12/2009 01:29:27 PM
Elfish
03/11/2009 11:16:15 PM
A little on the small size. Keep in mind that you are allowed to go up to 720 px for this challenge. Use the full canvas! :)
03/11/2009 10:21:24 PM
Or shade. Not sure what her expression is - doesn't particularly look like she's enjoying herself.
03/11/2009 08:58:06 PM
i might like it better in color
03/11/2009 06:54:43 PM
just doesn't wow me...if you had cropped her face and worked with curves and levels more your tones should be improved
03/11/2009 03:42:03 PM
I like the differentness of this portrait, makes me wonder if she is hiding from someone
03/11/2009 01:59:20 PM
Makes me think of the TV show 'Lost"
03/11/2009 10:54:10 AM
Lighting is pretty cool, but your getting a harsh shadow on her shoulder from her head. Maybe try offsetting your subject from the center. It may help the composition.
03/11/2009 10:42:56 AM
a little too central in my opinion, a i like the light though.
03/11/2009 09:15:18 AM
Here expression doesnt really match the surroundings but its cool looking anyway. hahah.
03/11/2009 05:17:02 AM
Children of the trees?
03/11/2009 03:20:42 AM
I find her expression a bit off-putting, but I love the tones in the foliage, particularly just above her head.
03/11/2009 01:45:22 AM
There is something very funny about this shot. Like she was caught doing something naughty in the bushes :-) The light on the leaves is great, but the shadow on her face is not.
03/11/2009 12:44:01 AM
Something is a teeny bit off with the facial expression. Nice and sharp, tho!
