Challenge: Hidden Gem -- 1,000th Challenge! (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0L USM
Location: Grand Falls, New Brunswick
Date: Sep 1, 1993
Date Uploaded: Mar 10, 2009

Found this little guy in 2003 while looking for bugs. I thought it was some kind of orange grasshopper, however when I got up real close I realized it was a frog! I placed it on a coin on the trunk of my car. I wanted to show my parents how small it was, since they're nature lovers. It turned out to be my favorite shot of all time because of the accidental great composition. They have never seen anything like it, and I've never seen another one since. I let it go after I took a few shots. I hope it had lots of babies.

nice way to show the actual size of this little guy.. I think a golden coin and a warmer colored tabletop would enhance this.

I like the coin for scale... but it's just not exciting to see a frog on a coin.

I'm hoping to leave comments on as many photo's in this challenge as possible... out of (currently) 1124 images, I gave 31 of them a 9. Your image was one of those 31.

What a cute little froggie, and "little" is an understatement! One of the stand out macro shots in this challenge, perfect focus and lighting. I love the reflection of the frog on the coin's shiny surface. Is he one of those poison arrow tre frogs?

Good luck for a strong finish in this challenge.
