It's really hard to make a connection with the subject with the hands covering the face; yet this is so technically excellent I find I'm still drawn to it.

This is a great portrait and it doesn't even have a face or eyes in it! NOt everybody can do that. Lots of personality here. I like the lighting.

Hands over face don't do it for me. It presents mystery that can't be satisfied by more observation. It's dark and despairing, but doesn't show much clue to his reality.

There is something very stirring about this shot. It is very stark and contrasty, but in a very good way. The negative space really adds to this person's emotions, her hidden face an added mystery, rewarded with exquisite detail on the hands. A fave.

I think that this one had a good deal of potential, especially with DPCs apparent insatiable hunger for third world images. The darkness of the image, unfortunately, leaves my hanging and only going back to the super-bright fingernails of the subject. I'd like to see this one with some lighting that was a good deal less harsh.

To me the overall darkness of this shot makes the fingernails look unnatural or even blown out. Would have liked to see it a little lighter.

The detail in the hands is very very good. Composition is strong. But n my calibrated monitor it's too dark overall to fully appreciate.
