This is the one and only time I've seen an Evening Grosbeak. There was a female with him; they stayed at my bird feeders for maybe 20 minutes and I've never seen them again.

The shot is a bit soft on the bird but I really like the light in the background and the lines of the branches.

PP - converted from RAW, slight crop, dodged eye, levels, white balance, increased contrast, cloned out stick that appeared to be coming out of his posterior, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

How lucky you got a shot in! Stunning beauty expertly captured. Love the twigs. This would look beautiful on the wall!

Oh nice! Another really good photo of a bird that we don't get here in the UK. Particular kudos for getting it to pose without a twig between it and your lens.

It's posed like your profile picture! Very nice DOF and colors.

Very nice shot - looks like your AF might have caught the main branch, but the bird really isn't too soft. Excellent colors and framing of the bird and branches.

This is the first time I've seen this species. He's a colorful chap! He looks like he's falling off that branch!

It's good that you were ready when this little guy appeared at your feeder. One of the nicest things about being a photographer is that you get to keep these little moments and savor the details later. The BG is nice in this as you said, and you did an excellent job with the cloning.
