 Just happen to know a friend with lots of period clothes and eyeware, so this is what came to mind. Very close to what I envisioned. Post was adjustment to levels, brightness, channel mixer, tone, slight film grain filter and border. Don't know how it'll do but I'm very happy with it.

Excellent treatment for subject - works perfectly together. If the toning were a little more antique, I could actually imagine this being taken in the 1800s. 9

My only nitpick is your spelling. It's monacle monocle. (Nuts, I even spelled it wrong myself! It's only correct because Firefox pointed out my spelling error!) Guess I can't fault you for it, after all! Nice old fashioned look to this.
