This pic was taken with a make-shift studio set up by both me ( Shutter-For-Hire) and leugim_seven at my Dad's shop. I will get into the studio setup later...

This was our first attempt at any sort of studio setup, so i'm pretty happy... This wasn't my favorite pic of the day, but it was the best one that fit into the challenge...

We used my four Alienbees lights... two a B800 and a B1600 for the background (would have been two B800's, but my other B800 is broken, so had to go with a B1600 at half power), a B400 with a softbox from top right of camera, and a B800 with a beauty dish from the left of the camera beside the model so give some nice side fill...

The backdrop is a 9 foot wide roll of white backdrop paper and the floor is 1/4'' sheets of mdf with a white laminate coating, this gives the slight reflection in the foreground of the model... not the best...

I am not 100% pleased with the results, but as I said, this was a first attpemt... we built the studio in the morning from scratch and then took the pics in the afternoon... given that, pretty good for a first attempt =)

Well... not to be full of myself, or to put down any of the other photos... but I am surprised I finished so low... I mean come on... the pic of the girl with the binder ribboned... her binder is cropped off!!! NOBODY would buy that photo for an advertisement... i blame it's finish on the open blouse and short skirt... meh =) that's the way it goes... sorry... i'm just a little ticked... meh... onto the next challenge =)

I think it’s a great stock photo shot. I’m new to the term “light blowback” by David C (thanks for the link). Maybe that refers to some backlighting that may show up on the edges of the model.

You and your partner went all out for this one. There seems to be some light blowback from the backdrop...and looking at your setup shots, maybe you needed a bit more distance between model and background. Looks similar to the Zack Arias blog post on seamless white shots.

you're right, this should have been higher (and I actually work for an ad agency that buys stock photos)

There are a number of good posts for this challenge in the same vein.
Hard to choose. Your's works too.

Very good concept and I like the quirky element. My only critique to maintain the contrasting elements is that his hardhat should have been clean. Otherwise, nice and good luck!

This is a good one. I like the suggestive look of your model, capturing eye contact. It is very important for an advertisement photo, to make interaction with the one looking. The alltogether atmosphere of the photo earns trust. One of my favs in this challenge. (9)

Terrific concept, well executed, though the man's head and helmet seem a bit "fuzzy" (is it a sharpness issue or something about blending with the white background?). Anyway, one of my challenge faves.

Great photo. I see this idea has been used twice in this challenge (what are the odds with so few entries?), but yours is a superior shot. Perfect lighting, composition and pose. Well done.

well shot and great framing. perfect balance. Could go in an add for anything. Is that reflection or shadows cast on the floor under the model?

Wow, this is so close to another entry in this challenge, it's scary. Well executed. Good model with the right expression, IMO. VERY stock photo.

I swear you and whoever shot the circular saw shot are in cahoots lol

And you've both got high scores from me.

Nice. Great attitude on the guy, nice composition (even if the cord bugs me). Lighting on the face is too harsh, creating unattractive shadows.

Wow, looks like two photogs got together and just changed the subject on set. Great lighting and set, but when two people get together and can't come up with two different ideas, lacks the creative bug. Two pics of businessmen holding power tools. Someone should have changed it up. And I just noticed both titles have competition in them...
