 I don't do flowers well, so thought I'd try something different. Tons of effects and layers as is obvious.
Processing:
Topaz Adjust psychedellic
Color Efex Pro paper toner
CS3 plastic wrap filter, masked out here and there
My swirly metal texture in overlay mode, flowers masked out
Layer of orangey color in overlay to color roses to the same shade as the swirly metal texture
Image of kanji writing in overlay mode, flowers maskeded out
My burnt edges overlay, multiply mode
My scratchy/grungy texture, soft light mode

You've created a hugely different mood with your processing on this one. The roses have taken on an almost metallic sheen, or maybe a leathery look. In either case, your processing creates the picture here. I bow to your amazing skill with the tools you have at your disposal!

Very nice effect -- they look like antiques. The kanji text in the BG makes an interesting effect -- essentially a random abstract pattern to those of us who can't read it.

the editing is awesome! topaz adjust is cool, isn't it? i love how you brought out the texture and the curl in the flowers. the background is an excellent addition. great job!

brilliant transformation colleen .. i love your processing on this, the tones, the unusual appearance of the roses, nearly metallic, and that fantastic background .. its become something different and very beautiful .. great result .. :)

Looks really good. I haven't delved much into overlays, but this encourages me to start experimenting with them. Flipping back and forth between the original and the end product is quite a contrast.
