Turn your head 90° CCW, that's the "right" perspective. The candle stands on a piece of wallpaper I put on the ground. The carpet was clamped to the side of a coffer. The telephone hung free and the earpice thing was glued on it. I held the book.

The description how I did it is as usual written in the "photo details".
I especially picked the candle because I thought it will increase the illusion effect. It's not possible to change the direction of how a flame burns. So there is a contradiction between what you see and what you know your experience.
I knew the colour is a bit dull, but I thought it would fit to this photo. I wanted the scene to look as normal as possible. In my opinion a dramatic lighting with bright colours would have distracted from the illusion I wanted to show. It should look like a normal snapshot.
Thanks to mcmurma for a laugh (no offense!) but a flame doesn't throw a shadow ;-) At least not at these lighting conditions. So I wasn't so super-smart to create an illusion in an illusion, like you thought. :-)

Thanks again to everybody for your feedback. See you next week :-)

Was this idea in that book? Would work better if there was more light/color/contrast. Its too dull and drab.

Strange shadow placement. Too dark under to book and phone. Almost loose the phone. Background doesn't get it. Could have improved the surroundings and improved the picture immensely. OK illusion. That is all that gets it a 5 (average)

Something bothers me about this photo. I like it, but because of the candle flame, the veiwer can tell quickly how this photo was taken. I kinda wish you'd picked something other than a candle. But still spiffy.

A bit dark but a good illusion, it certainly meets the challenge.
