That's all I want.

Bought a set of 15 pool ball ornaments a few weeks ago. The red pipe cleaner is in my box of things to photograph or use for a photograph. The pine sprig is from a live wreath on my apartment door.

I used two pieces of black thread tied on the pine and attached the thread wrapping it around a pieces of two sided tape. It's about an 1/8 of an inch thick. Stuck the threaded tape to a piece of white poster board. I had used some masking tape to attach the poster board to the top of my monitor so that hung over my desk. I placed my white box beneath. The monitor was draped with a piece of black velvet which drew up onto the white box to right behind the subject. Attached the red pipe cleaner to the ornament and the other end to the pine sprig.

Had the camera on the tripod and used my cable remote. In shoot, there was a draft where the ball kept moving. To arrest this, I place a reflector on one side of the light box and another piece of poster board on the other side. The poster board and reflectors are white and help light the subjects.

Hope you all have a great holiday season.

Post: Camera Raw adjustments in PSElements 6.0. Crop. Spot edit some threads on the pipe cleaner and shmutz on the ornament. Layer adjustments for level, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Curves adjustment. Adjust sharpness. Resize. USM.

I think we all need a good push to gain some momentum. Excellent way of conveying it. I am not sure of why the ball is soft and OOF, while the rest of the image in the same plane is sharp and clear.

Interesting use of light from below, which has subtle associations with horror movies -- appropriate for an 8 ball. Pretty gold ornament top and festive red pipe cleaner add thematic contrast and enhance the image.

Oh, this is so close to being great. Why it's not for me: the red lanyard/stem is a bit too long; the lighting on the ball too harsh and uneven. The top part of the 8 ball completely disappears between the top of the inner white circle and the gold cap. It would have been much more powerful to see even a vague outline of the entire sphere.
