I would have liked the focus to be the oposite of what it is now for this challenge. I would like the rusted subject to be in focus. the background is interesting, and you could have it either in focus or not, I'd have to see it to tell which would be better. You need to straighten up your horizon. looks like the water is going to runn right off the left side of the photo. give it a slight right rotation and then recrop. ~Heather~

This shot appears to be composed about the island not about the rusted nail.

i'm sure lots of ppl say the same - DOF not great for me. Would have been a lovely shot with DOF better. Check out hyperfocal measurements.

Try and focus a little bit closer to the camera (on the rust spot), then frame the shot and depress the shutter!

According to your title the nail is the subject, yet it is badly out of focus. This image would have fit the challenge much better if the nail was in focus rather than the rocks and the shoreline. Nice serene scenery, however. Good capture.

Since this pic is called "rusty nail by the sea" I would actually like to see the nail as well. Good job otherwise. Maybe adjust the horizon to be more horizontal.

the subject of the image (the rusty nail) is completely out of focus ... i don't think that this is very good

If the nail is the key element in the composition it shoulc be in focus. Had it been so, this would have been an attractive vista.

The beach area, water area and sky are very nice indeed. But the out of focus areas on the bottom/left are major detractors.
