This is one of the photos that I took for a photo essay for one of my art classes at college. I don't enter much black and white at all, or even shoot much black and white but I thought this one was really cool. I shot it in color and it just looked drab and boring until I converted it to Black and White and as soon as I did I knew I like it better like this.

Here's the original in color.

Thanks!

I really liked this image. I'm you're lonely 10. At first glance I found it a pleasing abstract...3 distinct layers from top to bottom. I also enjoyed the subtle movement of the water against the static feel of the landscape above...no fluffy water...fluffy water annoys me for the most part.

This is a scene often passed by, but there is much see, feel and hear if we let ourselves get lost in it and experience the moment for what it is. It becomes even more pleasing the more it is looked at.

A photograph is a photograph. It is the subject. The visually stunted yearn for a "focal point" and do not understand the true nature of what a photograph is, and what it can be. That may sound like a harsh thing to say, but it's true. Too many lazy eyes looking for instant gratification. It is not your fault, it is theirs. Not once in my many years in school did I hear the words, "your photograph must have a focal point."...not once. There is nothing wrong with having a focal point, but it isn't a must.

Anyway, I enjoyed this...glad you entered it.

Nice try, but it lacks a real focal point or anything of interest.

To me, this lacks a central focus and depth. The composition has potential, but I'm not sure I like the choice for b&w here.

Even though I don't think this subject is very interesting by itself, I think you have photographed it very well. 7

I find it a little too dark though I guess that's what you were going for.

I can't seem to rest my eyes on "the subject" ... I think there needs to be something that's clearly the subject. I like the processing of it. (not voting yet)

OK as a black and white...not sure what to focus on here
