 This is Tennyson's Monument on the Isle of Wight. I shot this just before the bench shot for the benches challenge.

Alfred Lord Tennyson was born on 6th August 1809 and was the fourth of twelve children. He became established in the nation as an extremely popular poet and was friends with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

From 3 RAW exposures @ 11mm, 2 stops apart merged in photomatix to create 2 jpgs.
One jpg I adjusted the settings for the sky and one for the land.
These were then merged in cs3 using the quick selection tool to create a mask so only the land was added to the sky exposure.
The land layer opacity was set to about 50%.
A dodge burn layer added and burnt the cross to darken it.
Levels and curves on the land and sky separately.
I think I changed the sat on the grass slightly.
Layers flattened and then applied a -37 vertical perspective lens correction.
Cropped to have a complete shot.
rotated .75% to level horizon.
increased saturation on sky and sea.
Resize, usm and save.

Sounds like a lot of editing but in reality it took about 15 minutes! The quick selection tool is very handy!

I'm hoping for a top 100 finish, dream score would be anything above 6.534 as that would beat my previous highest for this lens!
