 It's a Galileo thermometer. Congrats to KarenNfld for figuring it out.

Btw, the title comes from here. This sort of reminded me of those houses a little.

Glass stem? Cool shapes and tones. The border is so close in tone to the background that it becomes a distracting part of the photo rather than a nice accent to it.

The alien mothership decended, alighting upon the white house front lawn. It sat still and quiet for a time and then a glow emanated from within, followed by a mechanical sounding voice. "Greeting earthlets, we are on a mission from the planet Monistat VII. Nobody will be harmed as long as you bring us all your olives."

Dude that's cool! I HATE YOU! Man that is soo cool. 10 What the F* is it? I hate you!... I spent the day contemplating your photo. I think it is a picture of an alien pressing a doorbell with her nipple. Am I close?

Definitely a very curious object - the closest thing it resembles to me is a vacuum tube for an amplifier... Nicely done!

I think I know this! One of the floating glass "balls" in a Galileo thermometer? You've flipped the image. I love your processing, looks like a Yanko photo.
