My father-in-law has recently released a film her in the UK which was based on his life story. His been touring quite a bit and wanted a picture which he could use for the tour.

Previously I stumbled across in a children's park a mini fort where kids played in, they had a beautiful rusty metal jail (without locks!!) which I knew I have to use in the future.

I took the shot at night, used a large sheet of tracing paper and attached it to the window and shot with a wireless flash, also I used another diffused flash for a front fill and decided to set it off to the side to get shadow casts from the metal bars on his face.

Converted from RAW, curves, dodged/burned, hue and saturation and color filtering.

Wow this is great - probably not obvious enough for people on this site - they tend to need slapping in the face with blatantness.

As some pointed out, just calling the shot IRON would have helped. But that is something you do to convey the nearness to period table, and ease the minds of voters. Nothing more to it!

Keep up the good work Shetland!

First post and missed a trick with the naming of the shot... oops!

A referance to iron bars might have helped, but this is an excellent photograph. The lighting is dramatic and appears well planned.

I really like this shot, especially the oblique angle. The light from behind him detracts somewhat, and the title may be better said as contained by IRON, as "metal" really isn't a specific element.

Doesn't spell out the element (in fact probably isn't one on its own) but that doesn't matter as for me it is a great picture and idea for the challenge

Finally a picture in this challenge with photographic value. The dark look, graffiti and lighting is good. The model with tattos and all was a good choice for this picture.

Not only is the lighint and editing wonderful but, it fits the challenge, even though we have to assume that the bars are lead or iron.
