Hi Sam,

Greetings from the Critique Club.

(Reading through the comments -- seems your humor was appreciated by some but in poor taste to others. Seems like this type of shot gets extra points from some balanced out by those who didn't like the symoblism).

I don't know if I can add anything brilliant to the notes below.

Your border brings out/repeats the lines in the photo and compliments the composition. Playing around with the 50/50 balance of head/hand (as some offered in their suggestions) could have the benefit of getting rid of the knot in the wood as I found it an intrusive part of the background.

Overall, I think this shot is well done. It's creative take on the theme is refreshing. Your subjects expression is spot-on and the rusty object plays an important role in the story you're telling.

Please pm me if you've got any questions on my comments,

Regards,
Theresa

Wasn't that Mad Magazine?

I would have used a larger aperture to get more of the photo in focus. The gun should have just as much weight as his eyes, imho. Excellent idea and cropping.

Very crisp shot. I like the focus, framing and DOF.

Great model, great expression and wonderful skin tones. All I wonder about is the source of the bang itself. Beautifully composed, framed and cropped. Very imaginative. Great work.

A 9.

This is an interesting take on the challenge. I like it. It's nice to see some humor mixed in with the bag. It's nice to have someone break up the monotony of just rusty object (I just did a plain old rusty object myself). This is cool. Nice focus and I like the expression on the face. Good luck with the challenge!!!

IMO, it is art but like observer I do not like it: good composition, good technic , very ggod model... maybe I don't catch the idea: a gun is so serious that I do not play with them

A little too creepy for me.

Excellent color and focus. I don't really like this kind of spoof though, it makes me very uncomfortable to see a gun pointed at someone's head, even in jest and even though it's an old rusted gun.

A truly creative shot. (no pun intended)

creative twist here -- like it because it's quite different -- great expression

something's odd about the hand -- could be the size of the "gun" or the model - no insult meant.

quite different approach .... did you get shot ? .... tetanus shot ?

But it wasn't loaded! Great model, expression - must have been a fun shoot (pun intended.) A nice take on this challnge, one of the most original for sure. Keep shooting and entering please.

The hand and gun seem slightly out of focus in relation to the face. It might be nice to get further away from the fence (or whatever the wood is behind the subject) so that it is more blurred and its lines less distracting. Might also be interesting to have the eyes looking toward the assailant.
