What I wrote before voting: "Shame I screwed up the highlights."

My subsequent total revision of my own opinion on seeing the score I was getting: Actually no it's fine. ;-)

This was an ideal challenge for me this week even though my time was limited, as I was away in Cornwall at my friend Andy's wedding. I had visions of shots of champagne glasses, rolls royces etc.

Didn't quite get a shot like that, but I would like to think this fits the bill: this is Mount Edgcumbe House, where Andy and Jenny got married. It's lovely inside, but the staff wouldn't let me take photos (I was annoyed about that, as they were looking the other way when ppl were taking shots with their cameraphones and compacts, but as soon as I get my SLR out...anyway that's a rant for another time)

After the ceremony, I sneaked around the house to get a couple of shots of the formal gardens, the best of which you see before you now. Just to the left of the house you can just see an archway, through which the guests were drinking champagne and eating canapes.

This photo is dedicated to the memory of my polarising filter, which fell off the front of my camera moments before this shot, and is now broken beyond repair. Goodbye old friend :-(

Seriously though, this photo is dedicated to Andy and Jenny. Thanks for letting us share in a wonderful day, and all our love and best wishes for a long and happy life together.

Thanks to everyone for the ribbon, votes and comments. I honestly am gobsmacked about how well this did and it finished about a full point over where I expected. I was feeling wretched last Tuesday night when editing this, not quite being able to make it look how I wanted, nor being able to get anything out of the shots I shot of Burghley House (think this, only bigger and grander) that I liked. The score and my very first ribbon has cheered me up beyond belief. :-)

This photograph just inspires me because I went to a wedding not too long ago and you feel like you need to take a picture of that beautiful place where they were married to remember it. This is definitely a keepsake. Great that you won a ribbon for it. Awesome!

I'm glad you got an award winning photo for your efforts, and to have the last word on the staff that was so discriminating against good cameras :) CONGRATULATIONS! This is beautiful and affluent indeed!

Congrats on your first ribbon. Sorry to hear of the death of your friend Polarising. However, the image looks great without him.

This is your summer home, right? :) Very pretty place and great representation of affluence. I love how the light is falling on the turrets (?) of the house.

Great shot. Love the leading lines. I'm drawn straight into the house. The greens add a lot to the overall shot to balance some vibrance with some dull colors. Well balanced, well composed.
