Hmmm . . having spent a few days above 7 it has dropped below and doesnt look like it will make it back up which is a shame : (

The shot was taken at a Hawk Centre, but they allowed the birds to fly out, stretch their wings and come back so we had the pleasure of watching this eagle and his mate fly in towards us over field and valley for probably 4 or 5 miles, then land in a meadow and get a reward ( a small child or something - I forget). As has been correctly guessed at the bird is not actually flying but had a bit of a preen and a wing stretch before settling down to look around.

Many thanks for all the kind words, I certainly didn't expect this to ribbon with so many high quality shot's in the challenge. Apparently the people that gave me a 1 and a 2 didn't think it would ribbon either - I guess all three of us were wrong :- )

So good to see an eagle with his wings spread to add a bit of interest to the 'usual shot'. Nice and sharp and the square crop really makes this composition sing with the body coming from that corner as it is. Well done.
