Yes, the color being emitted from the arc welder really is that blue. Taken at a steel fabrication plant in South Florida.

WOW, I was hoping to break the 6 barrier, so am extremely pleased to win a ribbon (let alone blue) and a new pb. Thank you one and all!

Beautiful colors and intensity. Nice focus too (his and yours). The negative space works.

This is pretty cool! It's dark in the back, but the light catches your eye! Great job!

I was very excited for me, when I last left a comment on your image. I've just come back for a browse, and realised that when you break a barrier, you you do it with gusto - 5.9 to 6.9 That's impressive, and I don't think it happens too often on DPC...so again 'Well Done!'..the trouble with that is now you have to live up to it...and I'm sure you can, with that new equipment! :)

Thanks for your comment Dave. It's hard for me to be mad about getting fourth when the three ahead of it are as excellent as they are! :-) I read your photographers comments and had to grin a bit. A few months ago I was desperately trying to break into the 6's as well, and then BAM, blue ribbon. (almost the same score as yours) Now 6.0 is my new personal benchmark of "success." lol Glad you accomplished your initial goal, and here's to many more like it!

Oh how I LOVE welding photos. They're so dramatic and raw -- yet the light makes them so magical. This is fantastic! I'm so glad it won. CONGRATULATIONS!

Great job, a shot that I wanted to do. I passed a guy welding and thought that it would be a good shot, but I would have been late for my class. Congratualtions on all that Blue. ;-)

Well done. Nice colors and black spaces. I love the bounce off the mask. Maybe trim the top 10-20% off to reduce the negative space a little.

like it. Just maybe crop a touch off the top would make it even more striking in my opinion 7

I like the dynamics of the blue light highlighting the subject...it likely took a bit of adjusting to get the subject to show up more clearly which may lend itself to the "looks overprocessed" comment???

The blue tones and smoothness of the light rays really make this one stand out amongst the other welding pics. Great job.
