He is cute, but I think what you did was "black and white in colour" as opposed to "colour in black and white"

DNMC - which is too bad because the color doesn't buy you anything in this otherwise good image. Nice focus on entire dog's face, nice detail in the fur & around the eyes.

umm the challenge was communicate color THROUGH black and white, not black and white through color.
Composition is just ok, lighting is pretty average, DOF is hard because there isnt much else in the frame to balance..
Maybe if you went really tight on just the black and white around one eye?

I think you're mixing it up with a prior challenge that wanted the opposite... a color photo of something that's really black and white. *sigh* I'm sorry. You'll probably get a low score on this because of it.

You probably already got many comments on this, but just to be fair, this is NOT a black and white image depicting color. You would have to completely desaturate it for it to qualify.

Besides all that, it is a good portrait.. the lighting could help more from the sides... and a bit more contrast would enhance the textures.

Photos in this challenge are meant to be Black and White, and portray colour. Nice Photo of your dog, but it does not meet the challenge
