I love the nude silhouette photos, the model is beautiful, I love the way you show all her curves, and the lighting. Great photo

Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition: Nice composition and posing of the model. I agree with the other comments that say that it should either be centered or slightly more off center to be completely pleasing. I'd also like to see the light picked up on the bicep of her left arm - I think that'd solve the problem with it getting lost in her chin. She'd probably have to cheat the arm out a little bit, which might change the way her breast sits.

Background: I like your choice of white to grey - how the divide is at her body. It helps the overall drama of the shot. I wouldn't mind something with a little more color in it - either starkly cool or exceptionally warm.

Camera Work: (Focus/DOF/Exposure) - the focus is soft and continuous and feels appropriate for the subject.

Post Processing: The color/saturation/contrast is perfect. The fleshtones are brought out well by the color temperature.

The Challenge: There's a bit too much flesh and detail I think for a silhouette, which may be why it didn't win outright (or maybe it was the subject matter).

My Opinion: A wonderfully posed and masterful shot. Personally, I found the pose a little bland and it feels more like a "study" or "sketch" than a finished work. Maybe a little more twist to her back to give the lines more interest. Your ability to shoot flesh and have it feel warm and soft is wonderful (obviously your model deserve some credit there).

Very nice, very sexy...well done.

nice boobs

WAY too much detail for a silhouette.

I often shoot nudes and have yet to get the lighting even close to this, it is stunning, absolutely stunning. It brings out the contours of her body perfectly, showing every shape to perfection. 10

I hope there is details of exactly how you lit this one, if not I'd love to know.

10, best of the challenge for sure.

Wow nice figure. Nicely done.

Fantastic use of lighting.
04/24/2004 03:18:08 AM
Very nice. The silhouetted face is the best part of this, but I would have preferred a seperation between the chin and arm. I am not sure about the gradient background though.

Normally I think that nudes are passe, but when I see a really good one, I score it appropriately.. 10.

Now this is a silhouette I could definately get used to seeing :) Nice composition and I like the lighting, good shot.

Excellent lighting here... phenomenal work :)

Classic subject for a silhouette, very well done. I'd prefer the shadows to be deeper though, there are still some gradients on her face, arm, and breast. Also I'd remove the slight halo on her left side (sharpening artifact?). But the pose is great and the highlights on her back are beautiful. 8

Nice view. I think I'd prefer just a little less light on the right, place more of the subject in shadow.

i think we have a winner great pic !!
04/20/2004 04:28:04 PM
For my taste, something wrong with composition/cropping.
04/20/2004 11:17:55 AM
beautiful transfer of light to dark on her body. i like the hand positions, it creates a nice flowing line from top to bottom, diagonally.
i like how there is a silhouette here and yet the feeling of soft texture of the skin is given.
04/20/2004 09:18:06 AM
10 for the nuts. 8 for the pic. Nice job.

excellent light ... my favorite
04/20/2004 02:06:46 AM
It's a beautiful silhouette. I only wish the background were a bit more evenly distributed but, maybe that's just a personal preference for me? Your composition is great.
04/20/2004 02:00:53 AM
Awsome! What a great model!

Oh!!...she pushed in line before me and got the last perfect body!!
lol
Lovely. Compliments only.

Ok, rules revisited: 'Silhouettes are created by backlit subjects, which causes them to appear solid and without much detail'.

Now, looking at this picture, take the words 'soft' and 'solid' and have to remove one. Left with 'solid'? Didn't think so.

I love it! :-)

Fantastic. Not only is she a gorgeous women, perfect for the image, but she is also photographed in a perfect way. The shadows and highlights on her body are just exactly in the right places. The background shows a perfect gradient at the right place, so the left part becomes a pure silhouette while the right adds depth and shape.

Wonderful lighting!
04/19/2004 04:52:38 AM
Beautifully lit (on the model) but would prefer more even lighting on the backdrop. She's also not off-centre enough to be considered off-centre - it just feels as though you've missed the centre - I'd put her more accurately in centre or further off.

Too much highlighting on body for silhouette. Grey background to left looks ugly and artificial

tastefully done
04/19/2004 02:02:51 AM
The lighting on her back is very nice. The merger with her left arm and chin is unfortunate. I'd like to see a different colored background - perhaps blue toned?

cute dimple above right cheek, good work
