 Day 1

Well I woke up this morning and my bangs insisted on going in different directions. So I went with it. I wish I had better control over my lighting, I wanted to overexpose the background but didn't quite get that far. Too much editing? I'm late for work so I'll try to post more details later.

Here's my original


Lighting Conditions-I have nothing professional so I make do with what's around:
-Window light coming from my left
-Floor light pointed at me from my right
-White sheet hung to left (needed it more on right but nowhere to hang)
-One desk lamp and one bedside lamp pointed at wall behind me

PP-
-Most of the changes I made during raw conversion- changed wb, heightened the exposure, added fill lights, strengthened some of the blacks.
-Cloned out the light
-Levels, color balance, etc
-Yes I used the healing brush :) Both on me and on the background a little where there was too much detail on the wall on the right side.
-A bit of work on the eyes, probably should have dodged a little more.
-Then I did a soft light overlay at about 15%

I'm glad yall think it still looks natural, I guess I just changed it so much from the original, and was looking at it for so long I felt unsure. I definitely pushed the highlights too far, but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to go back (still haven't mastered non-destructive editing). Thanks for all the comments and input!!!! Yall are great!

You do realize how badly you are rubbing it in to "normal looking folks" when you can look so pretty -- even with bangs going in different directions :)

You did a great job with the available lighting. Just need something a little more straight on the face to light up those eyes maybe.

HA - Fun expression (reminds me a bit of one of Jutilda's SPs). Light and tones are a tad strong, but the offset composition works well.

Well the light is well positioned I think, though highlighting the irises of your eyes with (stronger) catchlights would give this an instant connection with the viewer. I think the light is angled in a good way. I don't know what you're using for lights, but overexpose the background by ensuring the backlight is cranked up as high as it'll go without destroying any element behind it (i.e. any part of you). The back isn't overexposed here, but it is interesting.

Great story telling expression/pose. Wonderful eyes. I like the composition/crop. I'm betting we see some wonderful shots in your SPs.
