Thanks all for your comments and crits. I had a lot of fun with this one actually, and for those that commented on the lens flare on the hat it was intentional. There is a place called Heritage Park in town here and I really wanted to do a B&W photo for the FS and figured this would have been the perfect place as the entire park is dedicated to life in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Anyway this guy is a volunteer at one of the train exhibits and was a hoot to talk to and esp watching him show my 4yo son around the trains they had parked in the building where the eyes were lighting up on both of them as they walked around. Anyway thanks all again and IMO I think my score is pretty good considering the amount of talent and shear number of entries :)

So fun! The light is great. I love the shadows on the ground and the glow of his hat.

I gave three tens in this challenge. This was one of them. I do hope you print this and take it back to this gentleman if you get a chance. I'm sure he'd be most delighted to have it!

Oh, this makes my day! One of those rare photos that will last forever. (The sparkle on the cap is the lemon zest in the espresso).

I was gonna come back and comment on this but ran out of time. I thought this was excellent! I loved how the lighting on the floor was bouncing up on his face. My fave part tho was the sparkle of light on his hat. Excellent capture, Dave!

Damn, that dude's hat is shiny! Really, excellent shot. I love it and can find no fault.

There is a kind of hazy look in the area of his face, and the bright light on the cap is a distraction, but a nice image none-the-less.

Very nicely observed. His pose is just perfect, and I particularly like the play of light through the windows. I am not so keen on the star effect the light has given to the peak of the cap, but I can live with it! I do wonder if you could ush the contrast just a little more.

Reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode I once saw. Love the timeless quality and the sunburst on the bill of the cap. Congrats.

that little glint of light on the hat really works...a fabulous b and w image, perhaps needing a little more contrast

I think the flash of light on the bill is distracting but the image over-all is fantastic. Nice job. 7

Nice character study and good use of contrasting diagonals. The extra bright specular highlight on the shiny rim of his hat diminishes the impact.

You got an 8 from me. Love these types of scenes. . . especially the B&W. Like your title as well. Nicely done. My only comment, and I know I'm pointing out the obvious, is the flash in the bill of the cap. BOL

I like this. I think you will get a lot of comments about the location of the sunburst, but it is a charming photograph.

nice picture but spoilt by the glare on the peak of the hat.
