 after steve's comment ..
this is a very small wasp that came into our house when the door was left open ..
the sunroof .. that's his wings .. !!.. lol ..
completely different from the wasps i've been photographing on the firetrail during summer which are much larger ..
eg ..

the paper wasps on the firetrail are all gone now because its winter .. the ones that survive hibernate over the winter months and emerge when the weather warms up in spring to breed and make more nests ..

I had a feeling this one was yours. It has that perfect composition with all the great detail you'd expect from a flawless macro, with beautiful colors and processing to compliment it beautifully. These were a tough bunch of voters. I would definitely have thought this more in line with what your commenters thought your score should be!

Holy kamoly, no body does it better Roz! Another awesome insect macro. The clarity and sharpness are incredible and the richness of the colours just divine. This got a 9 from me in voting so it goes without saying I think this is seriously underrated

Yikes! Get that highly sharp, very detailed, creepy thing outta my face! :) Awesome macro, Roz! Tough competition in this psuedo-free-study. Solid score though.

Roz - I'm not even sure what that thing is - but I love the sunroof on top of his head . . must be handy in the hot weather :- )
