While assembling a customer's Honda engine, I noticed the subtle beauty of the metals and their contrast. Available light, handheld, with no manipulation other than convert to B & W and adjusting contrast.

Seems many didn't understand the meaning of my portrayal.
This is cast iron and machined steel, combined to make up one of the strongest rotating assemblies in an engine. There is considerable mass here, and while at rest, it inspired strength to me.
Obscure I agree.
Mood it was.
Happy I am.

Not sure what this is but assuming it's an engine or machine of some kind. Love shallow DOF and I think it works well here with the close up creating wonderful abstract curvy shapes.

Great feeling of the power of machinery and the texture and sheen of metals. IMHO it could have used more DOF to bring one of the other supports into focus.

Nice photo, but it is hard to tell what it is, maybe needs more explanation, somehow...

too macro for me to tell what it is....Steel? it's strong in and of itself....but in what capacity is its strength shown here. Dunno.....Good macro/abstract shot.

Good use of small aperture, but lacks punch

outstanding! I really like the lighting, the DOF. Nicely sharp without over-doing the cast-iron texture.
