Catch grasshopper outside, wait for him to calm down, catch grasshopper inside, catch grasshopper again, repeat last step seventy-five times, then...

Crop, Curves, clone out lots of dust on my new lens *sigh*, slight Lucis, NI, Sharpen, border, Burn highlights a tad, Save for Web

I held a piece of white posterboard up with my other hand to make the reflection be cleaner. I don't have a studio and the room was a mess all reflected (and in real life). Mr. Grasshopper didn't really mind the posterboard which was weird.

Natural window light only, with me standing to make less glare on Mr. Grasshopper.

I don't know why I enter these Free Studys... the level of expertise is way out of my range. But... I just can't seem to stop myself. *grin*

I'd love to break my FS record: 6.1074

Someday... *sigh*

I am surprised this scored so low. definitely underrated probably because it wasn't too DPC friendly. Definitely should have scored higher , love this shot!!

lol i was "this close" to commenting before the challenge was over. oh well. I love the close up - nice and clear. The grasshopper is a nice colorful contrast to all the black tones in the rest of the pic.

Nice shot. How'd you get the grasshopper to get on the lens?

Great detail and I like how you've captured the reflection in the glass.

Patience. So the bugger let you get this great shot hey. What did you offer/give/medicate/ him with? Is that crazy glue I see? Super capture.

Nice image but the processing makes it look like two separate images have been combined together when I'm sure that's not the case. It's the dark halo around the insect that particularly looks "wrong". But compositionally I like it.

The edges of the grasshopper are a little soft compared to his other details.
