Just read through the comments. I can't believe how many people didn't get it. This certainly deserved to do better.

Sorry you didn't do better. I was expecting this to be the winner!! Was my top placer.
I think there must be too many people here without imagination. (Or humor).
Keep up the good work. I had a great laugh with this, and also thought the photograph was great.

There is such an unbalanced level of justice in this world - how on earth did you achieve 17 tens AND 17 ones (BTW, i'm on the side of those giving the tens)? I feel quite aggrieved on your account here, as this deserved to do far better than 72nd. I think I shall stage a protest outside the houses of parliament, so we can invade the DPC headquarters and sort out this (and i don't use the word lightly) TRAVESTY of justice.

PS, nice one and keep up the good work!

It must have been like this before they invented the wheel? An intersting association!

Very funny picture! It is well composed and the colors are good. You also picked a good location - it looks very stone age. Your "caveman's" arm looks a little over exposed.

Good idea, I like this one. Rating: 9

creative. i wonder how many people are going to think he's looking at graves.

i like it a lot. if there was something to improve upon, it would be the hot spot on his arm.

this photo has a really good composition to it but i'm not sure it's clear on the meaning. Is this a caveman trying to invent the wheel?

Funny and original but probably won't do as well as it should because there are no wheels!

At least you tried to make fun!

Definitely should get the comedy award. I'm guessing paving tiles? If you had been able to put a stick (axle) between the "wheels" to emphasize what they are, would be better, at first I thought, 'why is looking at a couple of gravestones?' Great choice on background for the shot definitely adds to the stone age look.

I like the idea, however the theme wheels is very abstract. I presume you want a car instead of four stones?

I had this idea, but no way of executing it. You've done it brilliantly

Very funny shot that certainly tells a story, The light sems a little harsh on your cave man ,and the stone (wheels) are not entirely in focus, still a good idea.
Good luck

Well! Let me give a breakdown of my score and i'll award you the average.

Humour / originality: - 10. This is completely totally hilarious. Well done you.

Technical acheivement: - 9; focus, lighting, all other sundry bits all in check and pretty much without flaw. The only preference i have is that i would have liked to have seen the image in landscape, thereby focusing more on the guy and the wheels and bringing it closer to me the viewer (though negative side effect is unfortunately losing the gorgeous sky and loevly moutain at the back)

Being able to rope in some poor sod to make a tit of himself: - 10! How'd you do it? I hope you bought him a pint. And then show his parents the picture!

And fit the challenge? - 10. Definitely, yes, no problem. Unconventional but totally legit.

So off the top of my head that's a 9.75. So 10! well done!

Ha ha ha, this is absolutely hilarious. You took a big risk here, other voters might not see the "wheel" and vote you down. Great job!

4 for being creative but only with the title does the photo meet the challenge and even then it's a really big stretch.

I like it! I had a similar idea, but no time to work on it. You picked a good location, and the technical aspects are fine. A more caveman-like subject would help, as well as knocking off the corners of the 'wheels' to make them a little rounder. Good job!

I don't get it. Where's the wheel? Interesting, but totally off-task or way too obscure. Are they supposed to be square wheels? They look more like gravestones, and would still be gravestones in my mind, were I not expecting them to be wheels. An image like this needs a caption or a setup or recategorized or something.
  Photographer found comment helpful.
04/07/2004 01:01:21 AM
hilarious but I don't get what it has to do with wheels unless it is the wheels spinning in his head.

Love the humour. Lighting is a bit harsh, but it adds to that feel that this was a long time ago. Really funny. -8
