This is a photograph I took for one of my assignments at New England School of Photography. It was taken to be included in a series of documentary style portraits I did for a portfolio. The lighting set up was simple. A soft box set up directly in front of her, about 45 degrees up. I also had a spot light shining through the fabric to accent it a little more.

Greetings from the critique club.

Nice lighting to works well with the subject and the draping. I like the pose and the composition used. I am curious to see what this would look like with the exact same pose but with her eyes looking at the camera.

Interesting colors and the textures add to a nice soft feel even though the light is somewhat hard (but not unpleasant).

As previous commenters mention, perhaps having the model remove the nose ring may have been beneficial. Jewellry tends to shine and draw attention where you don't want it (in this case her nose rather than her eyes).

Overall, well done and a great portrait.

Very good lighting, but I find the nose-ring distracting

very nice but attention is drawn to the hand and scarf more than the face.

This is well done with good lighting technique. I don't quite understand the pose.......A good job overall.

I think this is smoothest of all the shots. I don't personally like the nose ring, or what ever is creating the bright line on her nose, but that is just me. I love the shear fabric as a prop offsetting the main subject. For me, it adds to the impression of silky smooth skin on the model.

I love the composition of this I think it's well lit.

Don't be afraid to ask your subject to remove those nasty and distractingly hideous booger-rings. Otherwise, a nicely lit shot.

Is the center of interest the scarf or her face? I can't tell
