This is a true HDRI image, from 5 originals taken before sunrise. Processed in Photomatix Pro. Very exaggerated tone work, because to be honest the natural original is way more blah than I had hoped for when I went to spend the night up there so I could take this image. We're lucky i even GOT a clear dawn actually, and was supposed to be a clearing-storm dawn :-(

Anyway, in CS3 it has a lot of minor tweaking of hue/sat in various zones, but not a whole lot. There's a tip of deck railing cloned out bottom leftish (where the path is). There's a fair amount of extremely localized dodge & burn, mostly to clean up the trim edges on the cottages. There's gradients top and bottom and vignette added as well.

Then the usual resize, sharpen, border thing.

I wonder how this will do. I'm quite fond of it, actually...

And oh, before anyone asks, "That's a CLOTHESLINE running out of image lower right, and they are where you dry your towels and suits; they are a recognized part of this whole rustic, Cape Cod Cottage scene, and no I never considered cloning it out!"

An excellent composition as always. More PP'ing that I'd do, but that's what makes it work, too.

I know some people don't like this processing, but I absolutely love it! Got a 9 from me. Beautiful!

LOL... It was a howling, windy morning, temperatures in the high 40's...

Thanks for sharing how you took this shot! I so love this beautiful image. It reminds me of the "Happy Place" I go to meditate when I get stressed! I think your editing is brilliant.

I think the hDR-like colors work with this shot. Very story-book-like.

Watercolor like effect, some people are probably going to call this overprocessed but I like the result

Yum! Not a big fan of heavy handed processing but this one works real well, probably because it's more like a painting than a photo.

this PP (hdr?) looks very unreal to me.

Being a darkroom sorta guy from the '50's... that had a great opportunity to get involved with digital in the early 90's has me yearning for the opportunity to explore this realm. I see it as a new niche and will evolve and likely enhance that which the artist will be able to convey.

This is just me, but I'm not a fan of this type of post-processing, sorry. I do like the angle and the three houses however.

This is a little too heavily processed IMO. Nice shot otherwise.

I am assuming that this is HDR. It does seem a little overdone and artificial. I like the composition though.

There are some images that this look works for and some that it doesn't. Good pick with this ;-) 7
