I had just gotten home from work and was chilling on the couch when a big black plume of smoke caught my eye through the window. I knew straight that it was one of the houses close by, so I grabbed my gear and ran out. By the time I got there, fireman were already hard at work quelling the flames. I popped on my 70-300 mm lens (which I was just considering selling due to lack of use) and filled up my card.

Saw there was a Sepia challenge and thought one of the shots could be quite fitting. We shall see how it does... Im quite fond of it, but well see how it does in the challenge...

Added Sepia tone in lightroom.

Fixed levels and curves to boost the contrast. This gave me a very pleasant surprise as it really intensified the images. Resized, unsharp mask for webviewing and presto.

Then it came down to picking one. This seems to be it for me. I will post the rest of them after the challenge.

A powerful shot. Great capture and PP. Nicely exposed. Which is a toughy with basic, not blowing the highlights with the contrast right on.
