This is one of my first attempts at panning.
I used both a Neutral Density and a Polarizing filter to cut down on the bright sun. It allowed me to get a slower shutter speed and wider aperture.
This shot was the first and only one I processed. I loved it at first glance. It really was this sharp out of the camera. I only did some minor adjustments to bring out the colors and sharpness.
Maybe it's not as original as others will be, but think it should 'safely' meet the challenge.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

Hi Terry :)

This shot finished rather well in the challenge. I can't really add much to the comments you have received other than maybe a compositional change. As I play with this image on the screen, it seems that cutting off the right half of the image makes a tighter view of the subject area of the shot. Panning motion is quite difficult to 'compose' in most cases. The image just feels stronger overall to me when I remove the right half...

Excellent work :)

Congrats on the best placement of non-DSLR submissions for this challenge. Great capture and keep up the good work. Almost added another ribbon to your collection.

Good shot!

The guy controlling the action is in generally sharp focus and the motion in the image emphasizes how everyone else is reacting to him. That is what makes this a great "motion blur" image. The croping of this one, whether done in camera or post processing is tremendous. Super capture.

Nice job Terry. I didn't get the time to comment during the challenge, but you met the challenge well. Knew this pic would be near the top.

Very nice blur and I like the way "Air Jordon's" face is in sharp focus. Color is also very good. A narrower DOF so that only the foreground players were visible would have made this into an awesome picture. Well done.

Caught perfectly, he is the only one not blurred, well done.

Everybody is in motion here, but you have just caught the central figure in stasis, perhaps at the top of a jump and not yet started to retuyrn. Very good.

I'm stunned by your panning technique here. I can't get over how crisp your subject is, given the speed of your pan and the shutter speed used. The composition doesn't quite work for me but it's a great shot.

excellent blur, very well done

I really like the combination of freezing motion in one subject - what might be considered the main subject - and blurring in the other subjects - nicely done indeed.

Super capture, looks almost too good.

Really nice capture here. Stop action and blurred action too.
