i really didnt know whether to submit this photograph in the water challenge .. i decided not to because the wasp, so close up and detailed, might be offputting to some ppl, and some of the voters might'v thought there wasnt enough water .. !! ..

with 15 minutes to voting i took this out and submitted something a bit more 'attractive' .. :)

used speedlight 580EXII ..

the next day ..
MISTAKE .. i should'v entered this .. at least it wasnt boring ..

OK. Him I don't want to be stung by! So, unless you faked it in (and what a job that would be, but not, I bet, beyond you) he is actually drinking from that drop of water. Did you spray it on him, and them run like Hell? I really hope you're putting together a book of insects, Roz. These are truly magnificent photos.

It probably would have scored decent but some folks would have nailed you for only a bit of water. But this is one heckuva macro Roz. The detail on that is amazing. How close do you actually get to these things?

Well I dont think your challenge entry was 'boring' but I do have to say that this one was way better. Shots like this have me scratching my head in awe and bafflement as to how they get captured. It is simply incredible, and the beautiful reds and yellows on the body add yet another wonderful dimension

Great great shot

I love this photo. I could see this in a challenge. But you are right, most would think there is enough water. The description didn't say the amount of water. Great color and focus.

I am so in awe of this photo. The detail is so incredible. After this weekend getting to see how difficult it is to get close-up sharp detail in macro photos, I'm even more impressed. You are SO GOOD!

Why are my insects always just seemingly hanging about... while yours are busy eating and drinking, biting and dying?

Nice catch.

Holy guacamole...that's an awesome macro! I hate wasps, and I don't know how you got so close, but this is an incredible image. :)

Although I think this is wonderful - I do think it wouldn't have 'worked' in the challenge - good on you for using your instinct (and advice - GRIN!)

Looks like stripe out of 'Gremlins' Rozy. Nasty little bugger. It's amazing how you've got the water droplet that he is sucking on so sharp. Not only that the one on his eye is just fantastic. I know how small these wasps are - fantastic :)xo

that's pretty cool - I like the variation of red and that blue from the drop that mimics the blue on the legs. COOL STUFF GIRL
