Took 8 hours to finally get this shot. Most time I've ever spent in an entry.

Some of that time was spent building a light tent which I'll be using again and again and again ;-)

Thanks for all the great comments and score.

This image was inspired by Carl Warner. Please visit his site //www.carlwarner.com/
He is a very talented individual.

About the DQ.
I mistakenly removed what I believed at the time to be sensor dust. I had asked SC to validate very early in voting and DQ it if it did violate the editing rules. I should have left the imperfection as was, but 10 mins before deadline, I made a poor judgment call. I broke the rules and got a DQ. Yes I'm bummed, but the rules are there for a reason and I fully support the SC's decision. I will keep trying to hit the front page again.....

At the request of Citadel here is a link to the unedited version with the cloned out part intact.
Disqualification Details
You may use a cloning tool or small healing brush for the sole purpose of removing sensor dust or hot pixels. No other spot-editing is allowed.

To maybe help others, my understanding of sensor dust is that dust on the sensor causes dark blobs. The dust, if you think about it, blocks light from the sensor. If it is a highlight, it is not sensor dust.

I'm sorry bout your DQ Owain. You should be so proud of this superb image, it would make a beautiful print!

I was impressed with this image. Would you mind posting the original so we can see what you ended up removing from the original so we can learn what to avoid in the future? If not I totally understand.

Kudos on the great image. Sorry it ended with a DQ.

Great idea. This is the third 'bolt n screw' city I've seen in this challenge. Your skyline is best but I liked the silhouette version best as it draws attention away from the details of each fastener.

Nicely done. The background being different shades of blue help the silver stand out, and the reflections makes the picture more interesting.

I like the depth of your set up, it makes it look more realistic and stand out from the other metal cities. (I guess great minds think alike?) The colors of the sky and water look the most realistic so far. It looks like you really put some thought into this and constructed an actual city. Well done.

Well I guess you just happened to have had last month's "Practical Photographer's" issue at hand for this one... kind of a 1:1 replica of the shot in the magazine, which takes away your credit for creativity on this one.. Nevertheless it is well executed but I would have prefered to see the complete reflections of the "skyscrapers"
