 Went up for a hike Saturday at this great park in the East Bay Hills. Poppies have been amazing this year, but I think there are only a few weeks left before they start to fade and disappear. Been trying to get up there for the last couple weeks, then made a point to do it this weekend to capture this kind of shot for this challenge. Came out pretty close to my pre-visualized expectation. I just wish this was advanced editing ... not so much for the editing, but so i could make the picture BIGGER!

Spent a good bit of time looking through the field for just the right poppy to shoot, and spied this one while I was lying on the ground shooting one of its neighbors. Shot this one prone as well, getting as close as I could with my 14mm lens without throwing a shadow on the flower. Sun was behind me and a bit to the left.

very nice photograph. DOF is very well used to pull my eye right to the center of the composition which is where your subject lies. Great job 9

I might have chosen a higher angle so that the main poppy isn't so close to the horizon.

The flowers work quite well but the uneven skyline spoils the symmetry.
