soo... taking a photo of my lips has gotten more difficult since my days of having a little crappy camera with a screen that turns around. This was a really hard shot to get and I'm still not super happy with it. It was really one of the few salvageable photos of the shoot, but I am pleased with how the editing turned out.
I had one edit before this and I'm so glad I went back and started all over again. This one is much more polished looking.
Post Challenge:
Wow thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! I finally ribboned again, I thought it would never happen! Almost a year and a half from my last (which was a fluke anyway). :)
For those that were curious, this was done with a white wall behind me. Just 2 home depot work lights with a 100 watt bulb in each. One pointed at me, and one pointed up at the wall behind me. I don't see the grain on my monitor but on another one I did. Oh well.

This really caught my attention... and then to find out it was a self-portrait; well, I do know how difficult they can be!
The composition is nice, the red-red lips reach down to a visceral/animal part of me ('perfect' is what pops into my mind), and the quirky expression makes it just right. If I looked as good as you, maybe I'd try this myself! ;)
The positioning, the crop, the neckline and jaw all fit into the frame very well. I like the ruby red lipstick, very classy. I congratulate you on your 2nd award !
Great shot! Lovely lighting, composition and expression from the model. Quality is a bit of a let down bit noisy on the shadows but doesnt mean it's not top notch 10
I love this image - its just great- the lipstick draws your eyes right to the teeth and tongue, and the expression is -great- artistically done- i like the tonal range you chose for this just a little darker than high-key in the background, and the skin-tones remain natural and real) -- another one that I gave a 10 to because overall it's a great image :)
you really get a lot out of this despite having cropped off the upper part of your subject's face. The lighting is great, the lipstick is ridiculously red, and the next seems to go on for miles. Nice work.
A well executed photo technically ... comp, color, focus, et al. But subject leaves me cold. It's good enough to appear in a magazine or billboard or newspaper ad, for the just right product and with the right words overlayed. Or I could see it in a contemporary gallery as part of a collection. Second best tongue in the challenge, but I digress :)
