Birds are one of the first reminders for me that spring has officially arrived. I tried capturing a Robin but they were uncooperative. So I caught this little fellow while he was getting ready to take off from the feeder. I startled him with the sound of my shutter on the camera....grrrrrr

Sorry about the focus being off :o( I wish this would have turned out better. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day to capture another bird.

As you get experience with the longer focal length (and use a tripod) the pictures will come into focus. But you've got the vision and determination, and that cannot be learned. Good job capturing that post; that bokeh in the background really make the birdie stand out.

Heck with the focus - yeah, it would have been nice, but I do like what you ended up with just the same. The angle of the bird makes it look like he's doing his morning stretches, and the bokeh behind sets him off nicely.

great focus on the seed and I am sure you will get a great caprure of many of the birds that visit your garden.....

it's so tricky, we anticipate them landing, and end up focusing on the feeder! arrghhh!
love his little expression and the sense that he is about to take off, but not before you GOT HIM!! YAY

Getting these little birds to sit still for a photo is sometimes impossible... still a very nice shot!

Nice, crisp shot. Looks like he's got a bit of attitude. :)

A lovely composition with his beak pointing straight away. Wonder if he was just getting ready for flight or if he was watching something in the distance. Nice bokeh for the background.

Nice composition, placement of the bird. Excellent bokeh in the background and colors to the bird. Good luck on the next capture, hopefully it will be clearer.

Bummer about the focus, but I don't mind so much because you managed to capture that 'this is MINE' attitude he seems to be giving some competition off camera - GRIN!

Nice shot Amanda. Gotta make myself a bird feeder. We have a stack of parrots around our place. Hope you get lucky with the robin:)

Gotta love the birds. Yeay, spring!

Nice colors. To get a bird to stay on the feeder post longer put some adhesive like super glue there. Once their feet get stuck and they tire out from trying to fly off without success you should get some nice sharp images. j/k :P

Great shot of the bird at the feeder. When they're at the feeder they either have their face buried in it or they're flying away. I love the colours of the background.
