Great shot! Yes, when a macro lens is impractical, a nice long lens works just fine. |

This is a great capture, even with the quickness of the Robber Fly. I can only imagine the shot you could have got if it had held still long enough. Love all the detail, amazing to see the little hairs on the body. |

Now that's one nasty bug. I don't blame you for shooting @ 400mm, I wouldn't want to get close to this thing. Good job capturing the "action". |

Yowza. Not sure I'd want to get all that close to that thing. And it shouldn't eat honey bees! Wasps, OK, but not honey bees! Bad bug.... I will say it did choose a nice background to let you isolate the subject well. |

Glad to see you getting such good use out of that new lens. At 400mm you must have been quite a ways off. Great job keeping it steady. The yellow makes a wonderful backdrop to play up the drama. |

Great macro work. Good job capturing this guy must have been difficult with him darting all over. Great Detail in the legs and wings. |

Awwww. ..poor little honey bee. My photo for today can be a tribute to the poor fellow who lost his life to the robber fly.
Man. . .you are so good at macros too! You can see every little creepy fuzzy hair. Amazing! |

& you buggar !!! .. i really wanted to photograph this one .. you're lucky you can photograph so close from such a distance .. i need to be so close physically, that often i scare wotever it is away ..
i've been wondering if dragonflies eat bees for some time now and wanting to catch one in the act ... now i know that robberflies eat bees that's wot i'll be looking for .. the next one is mine !!! ..:)x

400mm? You luck devil! Great shot, I'd love to see some funky processing applied to this one! Check out Roz's shot for day 1. Look forward to the rest of your posts. |

What great detail you got here! Lucky you for him finally landing and staying still long enough for you to catch him. Great info too! |

Wow - rare to see a bee look so submissive (or is it dead - grin!) Again the eyes of the Fly look like cut stones - amazing. |
