The Rhode's are in bloom and this one at my neighbors was catching the rays of the setting sun just when I had a moment to run out and shoot a couple. Perfect timing for my first entry. Shot with my 60mm macro - no crop.
pp: Levels, Selective color to tone down the whites, Hue/Sat to deepen reds

The color is rich, no doubt :-) What I find extremely cool, is that from your chosen dof I get to experience what bits of the flower are where in relation to me, nicely 3D to my eye!!

The varying hues of red really are quite appealing to the eye.

Roger, it was my comment that took the site down today. As soon as I hit "Post" DPC was down for 5 hours. Go figure.

I said that I just love the deep red color, and was debating whether I like that space on the right and whether a crop would make it stronger. I never did decide.

Wow, thats alot of detail. really nice close up of this flower, I love the different look to it than the standard flower shot. I like the wine red color of the flower as well. Very interesting.

way to go roger ... you're refining your theme .. i'll be only using my 100mm macro for our creative choice ...
i must say you've got the most stunning result from that lens .. a brilliant and beautiful close up .. the colours are intense .. love those stamen so sharp .. love the lines of the petals .. just plain brilliant .. :)

Oh so RICH - this is wonderful. Of course I'm experiencing the opposite down here in Australia - so will be very much enjoying the blooms of Spring.

Exquisite color and perfect combination of focus and DOF. At first I thought it seemed a bit "heavy" on the right - something a bit of a crop might lighten, but I kinda like the presentation as a whole the more I look at it.

Very cool shot. Had the feeling of an explosion in thumbnail. The divide between light and dark works great.

Nice focus on the stamen, I wish I could see even more. They feels a bit cramped being so far on the edge of the image.
