i just cant believe that this scored a miserable 5.6 in the free study ..
its the most excellent image .. amazing shot and a brilliant process .. definitely worth a 10 to me .. :)
Oh, this is an outstanding image! Sorry I haven't seen it before now. The subliminal, forested BG hillside is exceptionally nice :-) The light, of course, is fantastically seen. Takes a REAL afficionado of light to purge the concept "banal subject" and replace it with the concept "exalted light" :-)
Took my eyes a minute to adjust before I saw that rising tide of trees looming beyond. This shot has both a quiet and an unsettling vibe to it - very nice!
My gut reaction to this is quite different than the comments made so far. Your use of a long lens has the expected effect of compressing the well-seen light, resulting in a visual feast, but, more importantly, it has given mother nature a boost in perspective, and apparently her intention is one of reclamation. The building has almost completely fallen to the approaching mountains, and despite the plea to "STOP", the transformer's destiny has been determined. A rather uplifting photo.
i agree with hopper on this one - this is an excellent shot, fantastic vision to see the light, and was sorely under appreciated. i am not at all troubled by the pole and transformer. in fact i think it tells a wonderful story of how civilization has expanded and grown in a rather uncivilized way
Yes, I was expecting objections to the dominance of the power pole in the image. Funny thing though, it was the power pole that prompted me to take the picture. I should have, perhaps, chosen a title that would have made this a little clearer for some.
I keep ending up looking at that electric pole and the transformer. I like this image but because that pole attracts too much of my attention, I can't rate it high. I just keep ending up staring at it. It's the strong vertical line I think that grabs my eye.
