 The Image: Taken in the slums of Tacloban City in the Philippines. These kids live in abject poverty, but they are full of laughter, smiles and closeness. Unfortunately, many of these kids end up uneducated and in prostitution. Our church is working here to make a difference in 2008 and beyond.

I had the ISO a little high at 800 because I had been shooting in the darker part of the slums. But the D300 is magic when it comes to noise.

EDIT: Just my usual stuff...grayscale, duotone, levels, USM.

PREDICTION: I haven't done well with my last two entries and am not sure if this conveys intimacy enough for the dpc voters....achieving a 6 would be great.

POST CHALLENGE: Finished about where I thought. These kids live in the slums and they are so close to one another! The families have 8-10 kids each...I love the Philippines. Thanks for the votes everyone

Great use of b&w for the different skin tones, I like it. Bokeh on this lens is kind of funny, making the bike rider (?) a bit distracting in the background.

This is a great shot, but the intimacy I believe we are looking for is of the different kind. Man you should have saved this one for free study. Its an awesome shot.

The boy in the front that looks like he's going to punch your lights out detracts a hair from the shot, but the rest of it works really well. Hope to see some outtakes when the challenge is done.

I like that they are all "connected" by touch. It's not really an intimate scene the way I refer to intimate. But your allows me to overlook that and decide that yes, this could be an intimate group of friends.
